Unfortunately, the child suffered a rare disease known as sirenomelia, or mermaid syndrome, and died 4 hours after birth.

Because of the fused legs, his sex was never identified, reports «Story Trender». The mother didn’t know about the pathology of the child to be born, because she couldn’t afford ultrasound, and learned about the condition of the newborn only when she first saw it after childbirth.

"Parents are a work couple, and the girl didn’t take the necessary medicines during pregnancy because of a lack of money. The lack of proper nutrition and proper blood circulation in the child from the mother can cause such anomalies", - says Dr. Sudip Saha.

Mermaid syndrome occurs in one case per 100,000 births and, as a rule, leads to death 1-2 days after birth due to abnormalities in the development and functioning of the kidneys and bladder.
