News24xx.com -  Since September 21 2018, police are hunting a man who dressed up in a hijab to rob a bank in Austria.

The suspect pretended to be a Muslim woman after getting inspiration from a similar robbery that took place in June in a Turkish bank in Vienna.

He allegedly hit DenizBank bank, in Linz, Upper Austria, and another bank in Vienna. The suspected robber, who was armed with a pistol, was also wearing glasses and a latex mask with red lips.

The police have offered a £1,771 reward for information that leads to the capture of the suspect involved in the Linz robberies.

He was described as being aged 20 to 35, with a slender stature and around 6ft tall.

Before, in June 2018, Austrian Police said the robbery didn’t go to plan and he left empty handed after attacking employees with pepper spray. Police had arrested a 35-year-old man on August 2018 on suspicion of robbing a Turkish bank in Vienna. He was also allegedly dressed as a Muslim woman in a hijab and carrying a golden coloured pistol.

A witness tipped off police after apparently following him to a park. Officers arrested the man while he was relaxing on a bench in his pink shirt and shorts.

Authorities said CCTV footage showed two different men had been dressing up in hijabs to rob banks and had carried out four robberies in total.
