News24xx.com - United States retail company Walmart Inc. reminded the policy of imposing import tariffs on USD 200 billion products from China set by US President Donald Trump to raise the price of Uncle Sam's retail products. The statement was disclosed by Walmart through an official company letter addressed to the United States Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer.

This was done in response to US policy that has hampered the entry of Chinese products in the act of trade war between the two countries. The company engaged in operating the department store network urged the two countries to immediately find a solution to the problem.

In the letter, quoted by Reuters, the company revealed that price increases could affect food products, beverages, and personal care items. "As the largest retailer in the US and a major buyer of US manufactured goods, we are very concerned about the impact of these rates on our businesses, our customers, our suppliers, and US economy as a whole" Walmart wrote as quoted by Reuters on Friday, September 21st 2018.

In addition to food products, electronic goods can also be affected by the increase in tariffs, including gas grills, bicycles and Christmas lights. Until this news was published, there was no official statement from US Trade Representative Office regarding the warnings given by Walmart Inc.

Not only Walmart, US Chamber of Commerce as a private business-oriented organization also requested that the two countries immediately seek alternative solutions and bring this trade war into the negotiating table.
