News24xx.com - Mike and Camille Gerardi of Georgia adopted 88 special needs children over the course of four decades so that they could provide the kids a better life.

The couple, who met in 1973, bonded over their common compassion for children with disabilities or disease who needed special attention, reports Daily Mail.

Camille, who worked as a nurse, was already caring for three children at her home. When Mike, who was a pediatrician, decided to marry Camille, he committed himself to her cause. Together they adopted several children over forty years from orphanages who were suffering from either a disability or a terminal disease.

They lost 32 children over the years but never failed to provide them a loving home with a nurturing environment. When they had adopted 18 children, the couple founded the Possible Dream Foundation that helped children with special needs and their families.

Camille may not have Mike by her side anymore but she is still committed to the cause. She is currently caring for 20 children in her home in Georgia.
