News24xx.com - India plans to introduce face recognition technology at its airport next year. This is the same as Btitish Airways which has also installed biometric technology to identify customers at airports in New York, Orlando and Miami.

The application of this technology aims to help airports that are crowded with passengers to face the rapidly increasing number of passengers. And this can also be used as a substitute for a passport. This scheme was delivered in a statement by the Ministry of Civil Aviation of India on Thursday (04/10/2018).

In a statement delivered by Secretary of State Rajiv Nayan Choubey said that domestic flight passengers will be able to choose whether they want to use a biometric authentication system and go paperless.

"Security will benefit from the technology's ability to verify passengers at each checkpoint in a non-intrusive way," Choubey said on Channel News Asia.

The scheme is similar to plans that Delta Air Lines announced last month when it said it would launch the first biometric terminal in Atlanta.
