Instagram tests location history feature on its platform

News24xx.com - Shortly after Instagram left by its founder, now reports appear that Facebook is testing a new feature that utilizes Instagram data, namely Location History. This feature was discovered by a user named Jane Manchun Wong. He found settings that allowed Facebook to use data from Instagram to make Location History records from users' phones.

This kind of function is also owned by Google if we use Maps on Android phones, as well as Foursquare whose business is made with a model like this. Instagram is originally created based on a location sharing application called Burbn.

In its official statement, Facebook said it has not officially introduced this feature, as quoted from Engadget, Saturday, October 6th 2018. "As you know, we often work on ideas that might change over time or even not be released" Facebook statement said.

Facebook said, Instagram currently does not store Location History. But they promised to notify the user if later there is a change in location settings.
