Mount Merbabu national park is on fire

News24xx.com - The west part of Mount Merbabu National Park in Magelang Regency, Central Java, was on fire on Sunday Afternoon.
 

The head of Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Magelang Regency, Edi Susanto, informed that the fire happened at the Thekelan-Wekas basecamp, Pakis District, Magelang Regency.
 

He explained that on 04:30 p.m. local time, they spotted fire at the west part of Mount Merbabu. The staffs of Mount Merbabu National Park and some volunteers tried to put out the fire. But the fire was larger than they thought that it was still alight.
 

“The organizers of Mount Merbabu National Park had tried to put out the fire manually, but the fire was so larfe that it still had not been put out,” he said.
 

According to Edi, the organizers of Mount Merbabu National Park had asked help from other agencies, volunteers and civilians to help put out the fire on Monday, October 15th. It was impossible to send people to put out the fire during the night at such height.
 

“On Monday morning, we will send personnel from BPBD to help put out the fire in Mount Merbabu area,” he said.
