News24xx.com -  A recent study by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi found 259 people had died while attempting to take a selfie between October 2011 and November 2017.

The findings were published in the Journal of Family Medicine and Primary Care.

And this incident also occured to a beautiful woman named Sandra Manuela Da Costa Macedo, 44-year-old, who has died after she falling out from a 27th floor balcony as she tried to take a selfie.

The mum of two, lost her balance while leaning on a railing as she took a photo of herself. 

Sandra only moved to Panama recently, from the northern Portuguese town of Vila das Aves. And she had taught in schools in the resort of Esposende near Braga in northern Portugal and the nearby historic city of Viana do Castelo.

The woman that was filmed by a construction worker as she took photographs was falling, just moments before she tragically plunged from the building.  Her balance was knocked off by a high gust of wind after spending several minutes taking photos. 

And she was still holding a selfie stick as she fell.

A a witness who lives in the block said, "I live in the tower where she fell. She had been taking selfies for a couple of minutes."

Construction workers on a neighbouring tower block are said to have yelled at the woman to get down from the railing minutes before she fell. 
 
Paramedics rushed to the Luxor Tower in a popular neighbourhood of Panama City called El Cangrejo just after 10am local time on Friday.

Well-wishers took to social media today to offer their condolences to her family. 

One said, "Rest in peace. Such a stupid way to die."
Jose Guillermo added, "Peace for her soul and strength for her family."


Panama’s Fire Service published a warning on its official Twitter site after the tragedy which said, "Don’t risk your life for a selfie. It’s more important to lose a minute in life than your life in a minute."
