New defense system of Pentagon is easy to be hacked by others, officials says

According to them, Pentagon did not realize how easy it is for enemies to gain access to their weapons systems and computers without being detected.

GAO also said that the weak point began with bad passwords and unencrypted communication. Access points for this system continue to increase in number and are not understood by the operators themselves, even non-network systems are very vulnerable.

GAO report blames the US military for not including network security into the design and acquisition process for weapons that depend on computers. GAO also added that weapons developers often do not understand cyber security issues. "Because of the lack of attention to cyber security from weapons systems" GAO explained. "The Pentagon may have a whole system designed and built without considering adequate cyber security."

"In one case, it took a two-person testing team for one hour just to get early access to the weapons system. It took a day to get full control of the system they tested" he wrote.
