A student died during a duel to death in their school

News24xx.com - Two students from Public Junior High School 2 Pulau Beringin (SMPN 2 Pulau Beringin), Kemu Village, Pulau Beringin District, Ogan Komering Ulu Selatan (OKUS), South Sumatra, were involved in a duel. One of them died during this “death duel”.
 

The incident happened during school hours on Tuesday morning, October 16th. It is still not clear what caused it, but the victim, Okta Riandi (15), and the perpetrator with initial AS (14), were caught in a verbal fight.
 

Their argument continued to the back of the school. There, the victim and the perpetrator, who sat near each other in class, were involved in a duel.
 

The victim punched the perpetrator’s back and face, making him bleed. The victim also pushed the perpetrator until he fell to the ground.
 

The two of them decided on a truce for a while and sat back on their seats next to each other. But suddenly, the perpetrator took a wooden block and hit the victim’s head with it. The hit killed the victim with injuries on the head and back, while the perpetrator ran away from the school.
 

Head of criminal resort unit, Kurniawi said that the perpetrator had been arrested after his family turned him in. The investigators are still checking him.
 

“The perpetrator had been secured after the family turned him in, we had done negotiation before,” Kurniawan said, on Wednesday, October 17th.
 

From the investigation, it was assumed that the motive of the murder is grudge. This is concluded from the investigation involving the witnesses including teachers and other students.
 

“The perpetrator was burning with revenge, he could not accept that the victim punched him first. He then retaliated by hitting him with the wooden block, which we had confiscated,” he said.
