Stray cat’s keeper employed by Russian government with hundreds of dollar salary

News24xx.com - A city in Russia has a unique job: a cat keeper is sought after. This cat's keeper will be employed in the city of Zelenogradsk, Russia. Its main work is caring for around 70 wild cats in the city. As many as 80 people have volunteered to apply for the job. Zelenogradsk is a small seaside town in western Russia.

This city in the Kaliningrad region declares itself as the largest cat lover community in Russia. They even set up a cat statue and added pictures of cats to the symbol of their city. This is done to reinforce their self-image as a community of cat lovers.

Svetlana Logunova, a middle-aged woman who is a local resident, managed to get a job as the cat's head guard in the city. She was given bicycles, uniforms, green jackets, bow ties, and hats that signaled him as a cat keeper in the city.

She has been paid RUB 5,700 per month to ensure all cats in her community were happy. She distributed food, and gave a free ride in her bicycle basket.
