A woman who work as a mechanic brings patriarchal culture in Pakistan

News24xx.com -  When a woman took a spanner and repaired a car engine, many people were surprised in Pakistan. 

Because, in a country that is shrouded in patriarchal culture, the breakthroughs that it takes does trigger sparked controversy.

The woman named Uzma Nawaz is one of the first female car mechanics in Pakistan whose people tend to be conservative.

The 24-year-old woman has spent years overcoming gender stereotypes and financial barriers to earning an academic degree in mechanical engineering. She also capturing jobs in a car repair shop in the eastern city of Multan, Pakistan.

Coming from a poor little town in Dunyapur in the eastern Punjab province, her study relies on scholarships. 

Often, because of her study's costs that very expensive, she doesn't eat anything. For her,  the important thing is to pursue an academic degree.

"I consider it a challenge to all the obstacles and financial problems of my family," Nawaz told AFP. 

"When they saw me doing this kind of work they were really surprised," he said.
