News24xx.com - Some countries have legalized the use of medical marijuana such as Canada, Australia, Israel, and several states in America. Following the country, Thailand has plans to legalize medical marijuana. "Thailand has the best type of marijuana in the whole world" Jet Sirathraanon, chairman of the Thai health committee, said.

Cannabis has been a traditional herbal medicine in Thailand with its use in medicine in the 17th century. But in 1979, marijuana became illegal after being re-categorized as 5th grade narcotics under the Narcotics Drug Act which prohibits the production, consumption, sale and ownership of marijuana in Thailand.

"We will accelerate the discussion on this (legalization of marijuana) so that it can be completed before the end of December. This will be a new year gidt for Thai citizens" he added, quoted from BangkokPost. Thursday, November 1st 2018.

Jet said that efforts to remove marijuana from the list of illegal drugs have been proposed since some time ago. If this proposal is rejected, Thailand must wait until the new government before being handed back to the next parliament.
