News24xx.com -  An Australian woman accused cause putting many needles into a strawberry in a widely reported case of sabotage was revealed in court that she did this because of malice.

The 50-year-old named My Ut Trinh was arrested on Sunday, November 10 2018 after the police conducted investigations throughout the country since September 2018.

Trinh works as a supervisor at a strawberry plantation in the north of Brisbane.

Queensland police said, the maximum prison sentence for goods poisoning in Australia has just been raised to 15 years. Trinh was charged with seven charges and did not say whether he would reject the charges.

The fear of unprecedented strawberries spread to all the states of Australia and New Zealand, making people anxious.

Police said at least 186 reports of strawberries had been filled with needles since September, although 15 of them turned out to be fake.

It is still unclear how much strawberries that related to Trinh's act. On Monday, police said their investigation was "far from over".

A court in Brisbane heard that Trinh's DNA was found in the state of strawberry in Victoria.

"This case is based on a kind of hatred or revenge. She did this for months, putting metal objects into fruit." Prosecutor Christine Roney said.

Known that Trinh was intent to create financial losses to the plantation where she worked.
