Later, the anime that has been restored digitally will have original Japanese text and a voiceover version of the Chinese language specifically released in the Bamboo Curtain Country. Based on a report by the China Mtime film website last September, a local distributor was also said to have negotiated another Studio Ghibli production launch other than Totoro.

My Neighbor Totoro is a story made in postwar Japan about two young daughters of a professor who discovered forest spirits. Satsuki and Mei had no prejudice when moving to the village for the sake of their sick mother. After staying for a while, they realized that there were forest spirits near them. One of them is called Totoro.

The film was first released in 1988, along with the work of Isao Takahata, Grave of the Fireflies. At that time, Totoro only took profits of USD 5 million at the Japanese box office. However, the film continues to gather fans and praise, eventually attracting more than USD 250 million from around the world. Totoro has also become one of the favorite characters and sales of accessories in Japan have reached more than USD 1.1 billion.
