Reporting from Engadget, on Sunday, December 9th 2018, this is the first land mission to explore the side of the Moon that cannot be seen from the Earth. This explorer robot was flown on a Long rocket 3B March from Xichang Satellite Launch Center. This robot will land on the crater of Von Kármán and will analyze the land of the Moon, examine the sub-surface structure and also the solar wind.

In addition, Chang'e-4 will also carry silkworm seeds and eggs to see how they can survive on the Moon. Researchers will also conduct studies on radio astronomy. This is done because radio communications from Earth cannot reach the farthest side of the Moon. So, a telescope placed on the farthest side of the Moon will be able to receive signals that might be difficult to detect on Earth.

China's state-owned media agency, Xinhua News itself has confirmed that this launch was a success. This mission is the fourth mission in the Chang'e program launched by China to research the Moon. The previous two missions used a spacecraft placed in the Moon's orbit. While the third mission places the explorer robot on the side near the Moon.
