A 91 year-old woman died after vomiting up her own feces at nursing home in the UK

News24xx.com - Tragic, after vomiting up her own feces, a 91 year-old woman died. And now, the nursing home staff failed to notice that she was suffering from a huge bowel blockage. The poor woman, Stella Budich suffered the appalling death in August 2014. At that time, she  vomiting up a brown mix of bile, blood and her own feces.

From a sheriff’s report said, the daughter of Budich, Michele Ozkan has hit out at staff at Tarpon Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sarasota, Florida, for not flagging up Budich’s lost appetite as a symptom of something far more serious.

Ozkan who worked as a union activist for Firestone Tyre and Rubber Company said that her mom refuse food. And after Budich began to vomit the foul mix, she begged nursing staff to take her to hospital, where she died the next day from toxic shock.

She said, "Nobody should die vomiting their own fecal matter. How does your mother, who fights for the rights of people, wind up dying vomiting her own fecal matter?"

An ER doctor told the elderly lady got a huge bowel blockage had ruptured her intestine and sent its contents spewing into her abdominal cavity. And it had developed over a period of months, according to that medic.

For that case, Ozkan has sued the nursing home. And the Florida Department of Children and Families later ruled that Budich’s death had been caused by staff neglect, and fined  USD 15,300.
