Facebook believes that as many as 6.8 million users can be affected by this bug. Photos that uploaded by users to Facebook but don’t want to share with others can be accessed along with images posted to Facebook Stories. Technical Director of Facebook Tomer Bar wrote on the official Facebook blog and apologized.

The blog post wrote photos of users exposed for 12 days in September. When asked why Facebook was waiting to inform the public about the issue, a Facebook spokesman told CNN Business."We have investigated this issue because it is known to try and understand the impact so we can ensure that we contact the developer and the right people" he said.

This spokesman also revealed the photo was exposed because it was affected by a bug. This makes Facebook build a way to tell people. As a result of this bug, the company said they believed the photos could be accessed by 1,500 applications created by 876 developers. Facebook says it will tell people who are potentially affected by the bug.
