To save nature, an activist from Hong Kong makes pork-tasted food from vegetables

News24xx.com - An environmental activist from Hong Kong, David Yeung has a mission to save the world. He hopes that many people will stop eating meat. Quoted from Business Insider, December 16th 2018, some time ago Yeung who is the CEO of Green Monday launched a social organization group in Singapore. This organization tries to promote a vegetable-based diet with a sustainable nature.

During the launch event, Yeung introduced an eco-friendly food choice, Omnipork, a imitation of pork which made from vegetables. There are around 20 restaurants and hospitality groups with more than 80 branches that have agreed to use Omnipork in their menus. In addition, there are at least two choices of plant-based food in their outlets later.

Beyond Meat, for example, will enter Singapore's retail outlets later this year, and for While Omnipork is scheduled to be sold early on next year. Omnipork is made from soybeans, peas, shiitake mushrooms and rice. Omnipork was made by Right Treat startup in Hong Kong. Compared to real pork, Omnipork has a saturated fat content of 70 percent lower, 65 percent lower in calories, and zero cholesterol. Another advantage, Omnipork is high in calcium, iron and fiber.

The appearance of Omnipork is similar to real pork. There is a meat-like texture and distinctive flesh folds on the surface. Regarding to its taste, Omnipork also resembles the taste of pork. There are parts that feel fatty, while others don't. Overall, the taste of Omnipork is almost equal to real pork only in a softer version.
