The percentage of high school students who use electric cigarettes in a month rose to 20.9 percent in 2018, up from the previous year of 11 percent. The researcher said this increase is twice as big as the previous record for students in 12th grade. In addition, smoking habit in minor also increased from 8 to 16 percent.

"Policies and procedures to prevent minors from using electric cigarettes are clearly unsuccessful. The vaping industry is developing very fast. New strategies must be launched in the coming years so this habit can be suppressed" said lead researcher Richard Miech of the University of Michigan.

Many students consider e-cigarettes safer than ordinary cigarettes. In fact, electric cigarettes also contain nicotine which is as just dangerous as the tobacco one. The use of electric cigarettes can damage the brain and will increase the tendency to consume drugs.

Another finding that also surprised many is that many teenagers don't realize that the nicotine content in electric cigarrete is too high.
