News24xx.com - A surfer was severely attacked by a shark off the east coast of Australia. It was the latest attack in the recent months.

The 36-year-old man was surfing in the morning, near Scotts Head Beach, around 490 kilometers to the north of Sydney, the day he was attacked. He was surfing alongside of other surfers, when he suddenly disappeared. One of the other surfers saw him disappear under the water, and then the victim lifted his arm to indicate that he needed help.

It was the eighth attack at Australian beaches in the last three months. There are discussions and debates about how to reduce the encounter with sharks.

Australia has one of the largest numbers of shark attacks in the world, but fatality is rare. There have been 16 “unprovoked” shark attacks, with only one death.
