Quoting from The Sun, the selection of the name as a form of appreciation for several members of her family, including Pippa Middleton's brother-in-law, Prince William. His two middle names came from James and Pippa family members.

The Kensington Palace, which is the official residence of Prince William and Kate Middleton, also released a statement on the birth of Arthur. "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very happy for Pippa and James" the statement said.
