5,1 magnitude earthquake shook Sitaro islands, North Sulawesi

News24xx.com - An earthquake, with the magnitude 5,1 shook the Sitaro Islands Regency, North Sulawesi, Monday, January 7th. The earthquake happened at 01:25 a.m. local time.
 

According to Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysical Agency (BMKG), the earthquake does not have the potential to cause tsunami. It was centered at 146 km to the northeast of Siau Tagulandang Biaro Regency.

“It was 146 km to the northeast of Siau Tagulandang Biaro. The depth was 10 km and no potential for tsunami,” BMKG said on Monday. Until now, there is still no information whether there is casualty or damage in that area.
