1.      2 to 4 hours after eating

Our body can function maximally again after 2 to 4 hours of eating. During those hours, our body processes the food we have eaten. After getting through those hours, we can finally eat again. If you do not eat again 4 hours after you last ate, the metabolism in the body will reduce and the blood sugar will lower. You will feel hungry. This causes your appetite to increase, which then causes you to eat more than the right portion. This is what causes you to gain weight.

2.      After being active more than 1 hour

The next best time to snack is after being active for more than 1 hour doing some activities, like exercising for example. Exercising causes your muscles to work harder than usually, which burns a lot of energy, especially if you do it more than 1 hour. You need to consume a lot of calories and protein to get back the energy you have lost. This is the best time for snacking. If you do activities less than 1 hour and in low intensity, you do not need to snack.

3.      After breakfast before lunch

People usually get hungry at 9 or 10 a.m., especially if they only have a light meal for breakfast, like tea, bread, or cereal. During those hours, you can snack. But if your breakfast already contains enough carbohydrate, healthy fat, and protein, then no need for snacking during those hours.
