When in hiding, Anubis will not do anything except detect the movement of the cellphone obtained from various existing sensors. The goal is a malware detection cheat that usually simulates the Android environment and runs applications in it to find out if there is anything suspicious.

Then the malware makers realized that this kind of Android sandbox would not produce data from the motion sensor because the 'device' was not really held by the user, as quoted from Phone Arena on Sunday, January 19th 2019.

So Anubis will wait for this kind of data before they take action. Then this malware will send notifications to users who are disguised as notifications from Telegram or Twitter which is actually a download link. When the link is pressed, it will start downloading something disguised as an Android update. Receiving this update is like opening the door and inviting Anubis to enter, and started from there, the malware will corrupt the system on your device.
