News24xx.com - Thousands of Colombians took the streets to voice criticism over a car bomb attack that killed 20 police officerss on Thursday last week. The protests spread in several cities in Colombia, where demonstrators waved the country's flag while shouting slogans such as "cowardly killers" and "all life is holy".

Although the mastermind behind this incident is not yet clear whom, a number of officials and the public suspect the attack was carried out by ELN rebel groups who rejected peace talks. "We are demonstrating to reject all forms of violence, against the police or social leaders" a student named Yeison Torres told AFP on Sunday, January 20th 2019.

"A group of people involved in drug smuggling, kidnapping, and blasting of oil lines did not show signs of wanted a peace. They even killed 20 young people?" said a demonstrator, Amanda Ramirez.

In Bogota, the demonstration was planned to end with a pray to commemorate the victims who diead who were on average between 17 and 22 years old. Not only local residents, government officials and opposition leaders also participated in the demonstration, walking together across the Colombian capital.

"I am very devastated. However, I also want to go out and respect the heroes and commemorate them, reject violence, reject terrorism, and walk together as a country" said President Ivan Duque.
