David Bowie named as the best entertainer of the 20th century

It was based on a poll issued by one of the British television stations for their famous series, Icons. Quoting from NME, the 69-year-old celebrity musician was recommended by actress Kathleen Turner as a nominee in the entertainer category.

She also submitted the name Marilyn Monroe, Charlie Chaplin and Billie Holliday for the same category. "He [Bowie] raised the standards of creativity for other entertainers and that is why he deserves to be crowned as the 20th century icon by British society" Turner said.

Through vote counting, Bowie excelled from other nomines. After the victory, the musician who died in January 2016 will compete with major figures such as Nelson Mandela and Ernest Shackleton for the coronation of the best 20th century icons as a whole.
