"We realized there was a painting of a mouse painted with paint spray on the door near Hinode station in central Tokyo. We thought there was a possibility that it was done by Banksy" one government official, Koji Sugiyama, told AFP.

The character of the painting is like Banksy. During this time the artist often draw mice with various conditions. This time the mouse was painted with an umbrella. Previously Banksy had painted umbrella mice, but in different media.

The discovery of the painting allegedly was painted by Banksy was also conveyed by the Governor of Tokyo, Yuriko Koike through her Twitter account. She called the painting as a 'gift' from Banksy for her city.The precious painting was immediately secured. The government transferred it to a special storage area on Wednesday, January 16th 2019 because the painted door was actually designed to block floods when high waves came.

Until now, quoting AFP, it was not known when the painting was found. There are sources who say that the painting has actually been around for a long time. Some uploads on social media dated a few years ago, support that.
