The Land Rover SUV, which was driven by a 97-year-old man himself, was overturned on a public road near Queen Elizabeth's Sandringham Plantation in Norfolk. In the photos from the scene, the SUV showed a slant with broken glass scattered on the scene. In a separate picture, the four-wheeled vehicle was seen to experience major damage to the front left side door.

As per policy, the two drivers have passed a breathing test to measure alcohol levels. They were declared not drunk and their alcohol levels were still below the threshold. After the accident, Philip was immediately sent home to the Sandringham Plantation to see a doctor.

Responding to this accident, many questioned whether Prince Philip, who was 98 years old, was still able to drive alone. A source from the United Kingdom said Prince Philip had a valid permit, and had followed all the procedures required regarding SIM renewal. The United Kingdom requires drivers over the age of 70 to renew their license every three years.
