Strange sightings, the Niagara falls one of the biggest waterfall in the world have frozen

The river that is currently layered with ice gives the impression that Niagara Falls, which reaches a height of 176 feet, is completely frozen in some parts.

The flow of Niagara Falls, said Stuart M. Evans, assistant professor in the Department of Geography at the University at Buffalo, said that the heavy flow of water could not completely freeze. "The flow of water moves as fast as the fall is very difficult to freeze" he said as quoted by Buffalo News, on Wednesday, January 23rd 2019.

Very cold temperatures cause some areas in Niagara Falls to get ice build up to a thickness of more than 40 feet.

"Surface water and fog in the air turn to ice, but there is still a lot of water flowing. The volume of water that forms Niagara Falls combined with constant river movements makes total freezing almost impossible" Evans explained on the site.
