News24xx.com - 36-year-old Gigi Wu, known as the Bikini Hiker ("bikini rock-climber"), fell from a height of 20 meters into the canyon while climbing Yushan Mountain. She called her friend on a satellite phone and said that she couldn’t move and she urgently needed help. However, due to bad weather, helicopters couldn’t reach it in time. She was found only after 28 hours, but it was too late.

The accident occurred in Yushan National Park in Taiwan. Yushan is the highest peak of Taiwan.

Wu called a friend and said that she was trapped at the bottom of the canyon and couldn't move because of the injuries sustained during the fall. The island’s National Airborne Corps claimed that it had tried to send rescue helicopters three times to help her, but the flights were canceled due to bad weather conditions.

It was decided to send two foot search and rescue teams consisting of three people. They found the body of Wu at the emergency beacon she had installed. The woman froze to death. The air temperature at night in the canyon didn’t exceed 2 degrees Celsius.
