According to Vladimir Putin, the total estimated cost of joint projects being implemented is "several billion dollars." They are mainly implemented in the field of energy, engineering, communications, metallurgy, aircraft industry, transport, infrastructure, chemical industry and mining.

It was also noted that work is underway to increase the list of commodity items traded by Russia and Vietnam. At the same time, in 2017, according to the Kremlin, the total turnover reached $ 6 billion (while the Russian Federation imported more goods than it sent to Vietnam). According to Vietnamese government data, 52% of Russian investments go to the fuel and energy sector.
