These are some of the mysteries that wrapped the tragedy of tsunami in Palu which still being study by scientists
News24xx.com - The earthquake that happened in Donggala and Palu, Indonesia, on September 28th 2018, kept being studied by scientists all over the world. This natural disaster, which killed more than 2000 people, had lots of mystery to be researched. Other than a 7,4 magnitude earthquake followed by tsunami, there was also the liquefaction phenomenon in Petobo, Palu. Here are some scientific facts that scientists have found regarding the deadly disaster in Palu, Central Sulawesi.
1. The time of tsunami
This was one of the biggest questions which had been answered a week after the disaster happened. According to the data of the tidal station in Pantoloan, Palu, on Friday, September 28, the water ebbed on 06.08 p.m. and flooded at 06.10 p.m. It means that the tsunami happened 8 minutes after the earthquake.

2. The height of the tsunami
Based on the data from the station, experts can also estimate the height of the tsunami. According to Widjo Kongko, a tsunami expert from Technology Assessment and Application Agency (BPPT), the height of the tsunami was around 3,6 meter.
3. Important clue about Palu tsunami is kept under the sea
During the Fall Meeting of the American Geophysical Union, the largest annual gathering or Earth and space scientists, a surprising fact was found. The data shows that the seafloor in much of the bay dropped down significantly. This, combined with a sharp movement of the crust northwards, might have caused the tsunami.
