Prime Minister of Israel wants to freeze the fund to Palestine

News24xx.com - Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu who is trying to be re-elected as PM promised to freeze the transfer money to the Palestinian Authority (PA). Israel collects about USD 127 million a month in customs duties that collected goods which intended for the Palestinian market that transits through Israeli ports first and then transfers them to PA.

The Israeli parliament last year passed a law to withhold part of the funds, to pay to Israelan families who became the victim of Palestinians who being imprisoned in Israel. "At the end of this week, the staff work needed to implement the law on reducing the fund will be completed," said Netanyahu, who will face general elections in April, told reporters at the start of a weekly cabinet meeting.

"Next week I will hold a security cabinet and we will approve the decisions needed to reduce funds. No one doubts, funding will be reduced, early next week" he said in Hebrew.

The previous week, Education Minister Naftali Bennett was among the right wing who pressed Netanyahu to implement the law after the arrest of a Palestinian. The Palestinian was allegedly killed 19-year-old Ori Ansbacher. "The law to balance terrorist funds was passed last July" he said. "I call the prime minister to immediately apply the law."
