Museum du Louvre in Paris becomes the most visited museum in the world in 2018

In addition to functioning as a place to preserve arts and artifacts, the museum is also a cultural center. As reported by My Modern Met, on Wednesday, February 13th 2019, the Musee du Louvre in Paris becomes the largest and most visited museum in the world throughout 2018 which successfully attracted 10.2 million visitors.

At first this museum was a fort and palace. This site turned into a world-class museum in 1684. Since then, the Louvre has attracted art lovers with 38 thousand of its collections. One of the highlights of the paintings there are Renaissance masterpieces such as 'Dying Slaves' by Michelangelo, 'The Wedding Feast at Cana' by Paolo Veronese, and of course Leonardo Da Vinci's 'Mona Lisa'.

In second place there is the National Museum of China which was established in 2003 and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York is in the third place with number of visitors is 6.69 million visitors throughout 2018. 4th place is the Vatican Museum which has a unique history with 6.4 million visitors. And in the 5th place is The British Museum in London with number of visitors of 5.9 million in 2019.
