News24xx.com -Cases of data leakage in thousands of HIV-infected people in Singapore have not ended. According to Singapore's Minister of Health, Gan Kim Yong, the perpetrator who is a citizen of the United States is still having a lot of information stolen. "It is very possible that he still has more data that has not been revealed" Yong said, as reported by Reuters on Wednesday, February 13th 2019.

Yong said the perpetrator, Mikhy Farrera Brochez, managed to steal and leak data from more than 14 thousand Singaporean and foreign citizens who settled in the country. He is currently being extradited to his home country and is undergoing legal proceedings related to drug cases and data forgery.

Brochez spread the confidential information online including the names, identification numbers, telephone numbers and addresses of 5,400 Singaporeans diagnosed with HIV until January 2013, and 8,800 foreigners who had contracted HIV until December 2011.

Yong said the Singapore police were working with US law enforcement officials to monitor the Internet regarding further data leaks. However, he did not specify what information might be contained in the data. The Singapore Ministry of Health only realized Brochez has HIV-infected patient data in Singapore since May 2016. However, Yong rejected the accusations they were trying to cover up the case.

Regarding the spread of the AIDS epidemic in the 1980s, many countries impose entry restrictions on HIV-infected tourists and foreigners. Singapore is a country that still maintains some restrictions on permits for long-term visits and work visas.
