News24xx.com - This one simple exercise can reduce the risk of your heart getting a heart disease. Do push up 40 times without interruption to lower your risk of getting a heart disease. This was proven in a study at Harvard's T. H. Chan School of Public Health in Boston.

The scientists involved 1,100 firefighters in this study, and were monitored continuously for 10 years. "Using push ups can be a simple and inexpensive method for assessing a person's functional capacity and predicting the risk of cardiovascular problems" said Dr. Justin, who led the study, quoted by Reuters on February 16th 2019.

In this study, Yang analyzed health data of 1,104 firefighters in Indiana from 2002 to 2007. In addition to observing the ability of push ups, he also analyzed various other fitness factors including VO2max or vital lung capacity.

One of the strengths in this study according to Kerry Stewart, professor of sports physiology at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, is to measure strength and not self-reported activities. "You have to be very fit to be able to do that much push-up without stopping" Stewart said.
