News24xx.com - Mongolia temporarily suspends all KFC fast food restaurant outlets in its country. This was done as part of an investigation into the restaurant. Previously, around 42 people were hospitalized and hundreds of people showed symptoms of food poisoning after eating at one of the KFC outlets.

Reportedly at least 247 people experience food poisoning such as diarrhea and vomiting. Quoting from Reuters, this poisoning incident occurred in Ulaanbaatar last week. The Metropolitan Professional Inspection Agency revealed that this happened because of the poor checking of the restaurant's internal cleanliness.

Preliminary checks show that the water supply in the restaurant is so bad, that so many bacteria could grow in there. "We deeply regret the negative impact that many people suffer, especially our guests at Zaisan (Mongolia) and we work together to support our team members and customers during this difficult time" a KFC Global spokesman told Reuters by email, quoted from The Straits Times.

"Mongolia KFCs are fully cooperated with the government for this investigation and recommendations for addressing the source of the incident. This includes thorough investigations in all KFC restaurants in Mongolia, and specifically to determine the exact cause of the incident."

Tavan Bogd, the Mongolian conglomerate that houses KFC Mongolia also apologized. In a separate statement he said that the incident occurred because of weak internal quality checks. In addition, daily standards and regulations are also considered not to be carried out properly.
