Snoring turns out is not the sign of good sleep, but the dangerous sleep disease

News24xx.com - Snoring is often associated with deep sleep. But apparently this assumption is only a myth. Snoring is a danger sign that can cause sleep disorders. Sleep health practitioner doctor Andreas Prasadja says many people underestimate the dangers of snoring.

"Many people still think that they have problems sleeping only when they sleep at night and think snoring means they are sleeping well. Andreas, who practices Snoring and Sleep Disorder Clinic, at Mitra Keluarga Kemayoran Hospital, explains that snoring can cause Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), a sleep disorder that makes a person could stop breathing. This disorder is associated with a number of diseases such as heart disease, obesity, and impotence.

"According to one study, the prevalence of OSA in Indonesia is estimated to be around 17 percent. It is very important to realize that when you continue to snore, that is not a sign of deep sleep" Andreas said.

OSA has symptoms such as breathing problems or stop breathing several times during sleep so that it can make oxygen fail to reach the lungs. OSA is also characterized by choking or shortness of breath during sleep, permanent and loud snoring, excessive fatigue and poor concentration during the day.

Aside from snoring, Andreas also revealed other problems that many Indonesians experience regarding sleep disorders. Andreas often encounters people who are drowsy during the day and have insomnia or insomnia. According to Andreas, snoring, daytime sleepiness, and insomnia are problems that many patients report.
