News24xx.com - After last year managed to reach an asteroid named Ryugu, now the Japanese spacecraft, Hayabusa2, wants to make a "commotion" in space. They intend to make an explosion there. Previously, they had fired a projectile near the surface of Ryugu to take some samples. The spacecraft managed to collect it by taking the dust from the explosion.

However, getting a sample from the surface of Ryugu is still not enough for JAXA, Sakura's State space agency. They need material inside the asteroid. To be able to penetrate the surface of Ryugu, Hayabusa2 is not equipped with a digging system. Explosive devices are they only choice to be able to take material inside the asteroid, as quoted by BGR, on Tuesday, March 19th 2019.

Later, Hayabusa2 will release a kind of pounder containing projectics and explosive devices. Once released, it will slide to the surface of the asteroid and explode to produce a large crater there. The crater produced will be 1 meter deep and 10 meters in diameter. From there, Hayabusa2 will take samples from the surface of Ryugu.

The spacecraft is scheduled to release the pounder on April 5. Then, at least it took two weeks for Hayabusa2 to be able to get access to sterile craters after the area was cleared of post-explosion dust.
