News24xx.com - The World Volleyball Federation (FIVB) is partnering with the Sea Care Foundation and the Ghost Fishing Foundation conservation to promote volleyball. They use used fishing nets for the net. The project, called Good Net, was launched last weekend on the Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro. That's where the beach volleyball venue at the 2016 Olympics happened.

The action was sparked by a report showing that there were around 640 thousand tons of fishing equipment found in the ocean every year. In the process, the tools become waste and endanger marine life. Later, the net will be made into volleyball net.

This net is submitted to the volleyball community in need."Lots of nets could endanger the marine lives in the ocean, so sad to hear that. As a beach volleyball player, the net is an important part of our game" said Giba, owner of three Olympic medals, Giba, as quoted by the BBC.

Ghost Fishing, a foundation headquartered in the Netherlands, has a diving team that works with the United Nations campaigning for war on plastic pollution in the ocean. "As divers, we really care about the sea" said CEO of Ghost Fishing, Pascal Erp. "We realize how dangerous these used nets are for life in the ocean, but only a few could see the dangers"
