News24xx.com - Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has announced that New Zealand will announce Friday prayers starting this week nationally as a form of solidarity after the terrorist shootings at two Christchurch mosques.

Ardern was quoted as saying in cnn.com news on March 22nd 2019, that since the terror that claimed 50 lives on Friday last week, many New Zealanders wanted to show their support for the Muslim community to remain free to worship.

Ardern also intends to commemorate the moment after the Christchurch tragedy.

"To respond to this, there will be a two-minute silence this Friday. We will also broadcast the call to pray nationally through TVNZ and RadioNZ" Ardern said, also quoted from TVNZ on Wednesday.

Ardern's decision and announcement became a conversation in the virtual universe. Previously, Ardern was praised for being considered very quick to respond to the terror attacks.

The day after the incident, Ardern immediately announced that she would attempt to revise the law on weapons ownership in her country.

At that time she also said "Assalamualaikum" when she began her inaugural statement in the post-terror Christchurch parliament on Tuesday, March 19th 2019.

In the speech, Ardern vowed not to name the perpetrators of mass shootings at the Al Noor Mosque and the Linwood Mosque.

"You will never hear me say his name. He is a terrorist, he is a criminal, he is an extremist. His name will not be heard when I speak" Jacinda said in front of parliament as quoted on Tuesday, March 19th 2019.

"To all of you, I beg you to call the names of those who are victims rather than those who took their lives. He (the perpetrator) might seek fame, but we will not give it, even his name" she continued.
