News24xx.com - The Excavation Committee of the Ancient City of Laodicea, an ancient city in Turkey, has found a great statue of Trajan, a famous Roman emperor.

The Committee was led by Celal Simsek, an archeologist from Pamukkale University. The statue they found is 3 meters tall, or around 10 feet.

The statue was completed in 113 AD, just before Trajan’s death. It features the emperor in full military regalia, including body armor and short chiton (a garment worn by Greek men and women during Archaic and Hellenistic periods). He lifted his right arm into the air while behind him, you can see a bound enemy soldier.

During his reign from 98 to 117 AD, Trajan had expanded Roman Empire to its largest extent. It included most parts of Europe, North Africa, and swaths of Middle East.
