News24xx.com - American Airlines Flight 300 was forced to make an emergency landing back to John F. Kennedy International Airport on Wednesday. Apparently, the airplane accidentally struck a sign during the takeoff.

According to Port Authority spokesman Steve Coleman, the plane was departing from New York to go to Los Angeles at 8:40 a.m. However, it hit a sign located near the runway. The sign was meant to guide pilots as they drive through the runway and take off.

“Once airborne, pilot declared an emergency and returned to the airport, landing safely at around 9:09 p.m.,” Coleman said, as cited from People.
