News24xx.com - Many are failed in their attempt to stop smoking, some are successful but it took a long time. However, a study says there is one simple thing that we might never think of that can help us to stop smoking: sniffing pleasant odors. According to the study, only by smelling smells like chocolate, vanilla and peppermint can reduce the desire to smoke, as quoted from Metro.co.uk.

The study by the University of Pittsburgh revealed that smokers who don't even want to quit can reduce the intensity of smoking by about 23 percent when they smell the smell they enjoy.

"New interventions are very much needed to help millions of smokers who try to quit smoking but have difficulties, even with the nicotine substitutes. Using pleasant smells to disrupt smoking habits will offer different and new methods to reduce smoking, and our results for this purpose are very promising" said Dr. Michael Sayette, chairman of the study.

He continued, the results of this study show that this smell can have a positive impact on a person's ability to quit smoking, although experts admit that the reason behind it is still unclear. Dr. Sayette also noted that further researches are needed to see whether this theory can be useful with or without a combination of other approaches.
