News24xx.com - Genital herpes is one of the sexually transmitted diseases with a quite high spread rate. This disease is caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV) which attacks male and female genitals. Regarding the transmission process, many people think they are infected when using public toilets that look dirty or clean.

"Often patients are mistaken, when their consul thinks they can get genital herpes when using public toilets even though the transmission is not from there" said the skin and sex specialist from Pramudia Clinic, Dr. Wresti Indriatmi, SpKK, MEpid, on Thursday, May 16th 2019.

Dr. Wresti said that the herpes virus is transmitted by skin contact from infected areas during sexual intercourse. In men the virus can be seized on the penis and women in the vulva, perineum, buttocks, vagina and cervix.

"Usually those affected by genital herpes are in young adulthood, 20-40 years. Therefore, it is advisable to do prevention by not changing partners and always maintain cleanliness in the genital area" she concluded.
