Shocking, turns out fruit juice could lead you to an early death


IllustrationIllustration - A new study in the United States found something that quite surprising. Fruit juice which is the favorite drink for some people every day turned out can lead them to an early death. The researchers link the increased risk of premature death to the consumption of sweet drinks, such as soda and fruit juice.

The study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) involved 13,440 people. They filled out a questionnaire about how often to consume sweet drinks. Respondents were studied for six years and found 1,000 deaths, 168 of which were due to coronary heart disease. 8,4 percent of death from coronary heart disease go their disease from taking too much sweet drinks which 4 percent comes from fruit juice.

Researchers from Emory University in Atlanta and Cornell University in New York said the results showed higher sugary drinks, including fruit juice, are associated with increased in an early death.

"The nutritional content of 100 percent fruit juice and sugar-sweetened beverages (drinks with artificial sweeteners) is very similar. While 100 percent fruit juice contains several vitamins and phytonutrients that do not exist in drinks with artificial sweeteners" said one researcher quoted from the Daily Mail.

Dr. Gunter Kuhnle, professor in nutrition and health at the University of Reading said that this research is very important because most people use fruit juice as a healthy alternative drink. Kuhnle said it doesn't matter if you consume one glass of fruit juice a day, but if the amount you consume in a day is excessive does not rule out the other possibilities of increasing the risk of obesity, diabetes, and even death.
