News24xx.com - Egyptian security forces killed 12 suspected militants in Cairo, in an operation held a day after a bomb blast hit a tourist bus and wounded at least 12 people. Suspected militants killed were suspected of planning a series of attacks in Egypt.

An assembled bomb containing nails and metal debris exploded near the Great Museum of Egypt, precisely near a tourist bus carrying 25 South African tourists. The bus took tourists from the airport to the district which is the location of the famous Egyptian pyramid. As reported by Reuters on Monday, May 20th 2019, the Egyptian Interior Ministry did not mention further whether the dead militants are linked to a bomb blast on Sunday, May 19th 2019 local time.

But it was confirmed by the ministry that security forces killed suspected militants in raids in their hiding between in 6th of October and Al Shorouk (district names in Giza). In the region, it was mentioned that members of the local militant group Hasm are planning a series of attacks to trigger a 'chaotic atmosphere'.

Egyptian authorities accused Hasm groups - which emerged in 2016 and claimed attacks - as the wing of the Muslim Brotherhood group which has been declared as a forbidden group in Egypt. This accusation has been denied by the Muslim Brotherhood.
