News24xx.com - In a study that was published in the PLOS One journal, babies passed through a narrow birth canal during the labor. Because of the narrowness, the canal squeezes the baby and causes changes in the shape of the brain and the head of the baby tends to be oval. In this research, even there is a 3D image that shows changes in the shape of a baby's head that becomes like a cone.

Quoted from the Mayo Clinic, the baby's head changes shape because the skull bones that have not been fully joined. The soft part above the head accommodates changes in the shape of the head during labor and brain growth during infancy. A significant change in the shape of the baby's head during labor is called fetal head molding, which occurs in all infants.

According to researchers, the pressure given during the delivery process on a baby's head is very strong. So strong, the fetal skull bones that were initially separated became joined. This pressure changes the shape of the head and brain, but soon returns to its original form after labor. MRI results indicate a soft tissue that protects the baby's head.

This tissue allows changes in the shape of the brain and head to not disturb the health of the baby. This tissue also allows the brain and skull bones that have changed shape to become normal again after the labor. This change is not even detected when the newborn is examined.
