News24xx.com - The human biological clock does not only regulate when sleepy and when awake. A research reveals, the metabolic system is also influenced by this mechanism. At certain times, the body burns more calories even if it's not on the move. For example, in the late evening, calorie burning occurs 10 percent more than in the morning.

"The fact that doing the same thing at one time burning more calories than doing it at different times is surprising," Kirsi-Marja Zitting of Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston said, quoted by LiveScience.

The findings are believed to explain why people with irregular working hours tend to be more obese. According to researchers, working hours like that are sometimes not in accordance with the body's 'schedule' to sleep or eat. "Eating when your energy needs are lower might cause an increase in body weight," said another researcher, Jeanne Duffy.

According to a study published in the journal Evolutionary Behavioral Sciences, people who prefer instrumental music tend to be smarter. Elena Racevska, a researcher from Oxford Brookes University became interested in how music preferences are related to a person's personality traits while studying. According to her through the Savanna-IQ Interaction hypothesis, smarter individuals seek more new experiences than those who are less intelligent.

"After reading Kanazawa's paper, one of which is about the relationship between intelligence and musical preference, we decided to further test the hypothesis using a series of different predictors, namely different types of intelligence tests (nonverbal measures) and using music questionnaires" Racevska explained quoted from NY Post.

"We also measure a number of variables that might have an effect in this relationship, such as taking part in extra-curricular music education, type, and duration" she continued. Racevska studied 467 middle school students in Croatia and found that those who scored higher on intelligence tests are associated with preferences for musical genres such as jazz, classical, big band, and electronic.
